Boris Palmer (Alliance 90/The Greens) invents a press release and refers to it as “dpa”.
In a status report on his Facebook page, Tübingen's mayor Boris Palmer announced on October 14, 2018 at 10:32 a.m. Merkel and Seehofer's immediate resignation from their positions as chairmen of the CDU and CSU in the form of breaking news.
What's particularly piquant at this point is that he signs this breaking news story with dpa/BP. The abbreviation dpa basically stands for the German Press Agency, but this has nothing whatsoever to do with Palmer's report. This message reads in plain text:
– – – Breaking News – – –
Merkel and Seehofer are making offices available.
Angela Merkel and Horst Seehofer want to resign from their positions as chairmen of the CDU and CSU with immediate effect. They declared this in the same way in Berlin and Munich this morning. Both want to “enable a new beginning for Germany, Bavaria and the Union.”
The respective successors in the office of chairman should also take over the offices of chancellor and interior minister. To ensure a stable transition, both want to continue to hold their government positions until a decision on their respective successors is made.
Observers see this as an admission of failure on the refugee issue. It is no longer possible for the two party leaders to work together successfully. The timing of the withdrawal is intended to give the CSU the chance to win today's election in Bavaria at the last minute.

PS: Because more people are puzzling than you would think. BP is Boris Palmer
dpa reacts
Already in the comments under the status report, dpa news director Daniel Rademacher asked that the abbreviation dpa be removed from the status report because it was used misleadingly.
Dear Mr. Palmer, I am addressing you as head of news at the dpa: Please remove “dpa” as the source in this article.
The dpa also reacted officially and published on both Facebook and Twitter that this report was NOT a dpa report.
Important note: This is of course not a @dpa report! (rad) pic.twitter.com/q8IL86pE9r
