Facebook parent company Meta is preparing to launch a Twitter Blue-like subscription called “Meta Verified.” On Sunday, February 19, 2023, Mark Zuckerberg shared the news on Facebook . Zuckerberg wrote that the subscription service would give users a blue badge, additional protection against identity abuse and direct access to customer support.

Meta will first introduce this new option for “Facebook” and “Instagram” in Australia and New Zealand to enable users to have verified accounts.

Users can pay a monthly fee and have their identity confirmed by presenting passport documents. In addition to the usual check mark of a verified account, users also receive direct access to customer support and protection against copycat profiles .
This offer is intended for users who are over 18 years old. This is initially not available for companies. The price for the subscription will be $11.99 (11.18 euros) if you book it online. For purchases on iPhones, the price will be $14.99 because Apple charges a 30 percent fee for subscriptions on iPhone. Zuckerberg announced that the subscription will soon be available in other countries.

“With this feature, we want to increase the authenticity and security of our services,” Zuckerberg said, adding that Meta will initially launch the subscription in Australia and New Zealand before rolling out to other countries.
