We’ve all seen the blue check mark on social media. – The coveted verification mark, which in the past was only reserved for prominent or socially relevant accounts, is used to confirm the authenticity of a user account on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Co. But what happens when the symbol of status and recognition is suddenly available for purchase?

From status symbol to purchase item: Instagram verification
In Germany, almost 27 million people currently use Instagram every month - and only a fraction of them have the blue check mark next to their username. The coveted badge, which was previously only available to a select group, can now be purchased by anyone for a fee.

- Individual stickers
With these additional services, the offer could be quite attractive for some users. However, it remains to be seen whether buying the blue tick is actually worth it and whether interest remains constant given the cost.
