This current survey from the USA provides an outlook on the possible future of the Metaverse. 35 percent of PC, console and/or mobile gamers in the US are comfortable with advertising in the metaverse, while 25 percent are indifferent and 40 percent are uncomfortable. 44 would accept advertising in the metaverse if it offered free access to apps, games or places, a new YouGov survey commissioned by Globant (HERE) shows. A total of 1,000 adult users were surveyed.
What exactly is the metaverse?
The Metaverse is a collective virtual space that is intended to expand people's living space. The metaverse consists of countless interacting meta-worlds (or platforms) that can be experienced on different levels through avatars (digital figures or images of real users). In the metaverse, ultimately a social virtual space, people can live, learn, celebrate, play, do business, shop and have authentic experiences with other people ( HERE ). It's not about pure 3D game worlds, but the ideal of the Metaverse has a much broader scope and possibilities and is just beginning.
View advertising skeptically
About half of players are more interested in actually playing within Metaverse games than making money, but a significant number of users see value in mixing playing and earning. Expressed in numbers: 49 percent are more interested in gaming, eleven percent want to earn money and almost 40 percent want a mix of gaming and earning within Metaverse games.
According to the survey, just over half (52 percent) of gamers believe the Metaverse will transform the video game industry, and 41 percent think the Metaverse will have a positive impact on the industry - versus 25 percent who hold the opposite opinion. 40 percent say the excitement around Metaverse games is justified, while 30 percent are undecided. 73 percent name Facebook parent Meta as the most important company connected to the metaverse. The other places are followed by Epic Games/Fortnite (27 percent), Roblox (21 percent), The Sandbox (15 percent) and Niantic (ten percent).
