Due to the integration of ChatGPT or its further developments into the Microsoft Edge browser, it is currently receiving increased attention. In addition to the usual search function and chat with artificial intelligence, countless news articles are also displayed. Between these messages there are also advertisements that are marked with a small “Ad”. Caution: A large proportion of these advertisements lead to fraudulent investment platforms or dubious products.

In the picture you can see three fraudulent advertisements in red font that lead to a trading scam. We have already reported several times that you lose your money on such investment platforms.
Clicking on the ads usually leads to a promotional article written by criminals disguised as a journalistic news article. In the example of the ad at the bottom right, where Armin Wolf can be seen, a click takes you to getoilprofits.com, which talks about the “best opportunity to earn some extra money”:

The article on getoilprofits.com is fictitious from start to finish and leads to a classic investment scam in which all deposits are lost. To protect yourself from such scams, find a list of fraudulent investment platforms .
More dubious advertising offers
In addition to the clearly fraudulent advertisements about alleged investment opportunities, there are also advertisements for other products that can be classified as highly dubious. For example, we came across the following products:
- NanoSparkle Cloth : A cloth is advertised that can remove scratches in car paint. Experience reports show that this claim is fictitious.
- Diet miracle drug Ketoviax: A made-up newspaper article reports about a diet miracle cure from the lion's den. However, the product was never featured there and all images are fake.
- Advertising videos for medicines: Dubious videos behind advertisements in Edge advertise, among other things, products for hearing problems, neuropathies or dental problems. However, the products are at best ineffective and at worst dangerous!
Report fraudulent ads
If you use Edge yourself and come across fraudulent or dubious ads, you can report them. You can find the reporting function by moving the mouse pointer over the corresponding display and then clicking on the three small dots at the top right of the display. In this way, you will help ensure that dubious advertisements are better recognized as such in the future.
