Worms in long-life milk? 3 photos on social media cause unrest and disgust. It's about photos in which you can recognize a milk carton. Worms should also be visible.
This is something you don't want to have at home: a milk carton with worms in it. At least that's what a Facebook user posted. According to their description, the package came from a LIDL branch.
The user herself posted the post publicly in a group and attached 3 photos to it. You can read the description of the photos (sic!):
"Danger!!! That was in milk from Lidl. I opened milk today and found 2 of them. Can I report this somewhere other than Lidl?” ( Source )
The post has now been shared almost 14,000 times and many users are unsure whether it is fake.

Food Inspection Control
The same user added another comment to the comment thread on these pictures. According to her, an official from the “Food Inspection Control” picked up the worms and the milk.
According to their description, he could no longer get a counter sample from the store because the milk was sold out. This picture was posted for this purpose ( source )

What does LIDL say about this accusation?
We tried to contact LIDL Germany via the Facebook page. This happened both via the message function and via a posting on LIDL. Unfortunately, no contact was made this way because LIDL uses a chatbot that didn't want to talk to us about this topic. The request as a status post on the LIDL pin board also turned out to be fruitless, as the post, like other users' posts on this topic, were consistently deleted or removed by LIDL.

We have now sent LIDL Germany an email with a media inquiry. We cannot say at this point whether or when we will receive an answer. At least we received confirmation of receipt:

As soon as we have further information about this case, we will update the report here!
+++UPDATE March 3, 2020 / 1:00 p.m.+++
The status post can no longer be viewed in the group because it has been removed. The creator herself writes that she did not remove it herself. It is now suspected that it was the admin(s) who removed the post. There is also the assumption that LIDL itself intervened to have the post removed. We don't believe this.
How does it go from here?
We have written to the creator directly and are still waiting for a response, just like from LIDL. We also made a request to join, which unfortunately has not been confirmed as of yesterday (March 2, 2020). Unfortunately, we are currently unable to comment.

+++UPDATE March 3, 2020/ 5:55 p.m.+++
According to an article from the “Badische Neueste Nachrichten”, the head of the responsible food control authority of the Karlsruhe district office confirmed that an employee of the authority drove to Oberderdingen on Monday following the creator's tip. The foreign body and the milk carton were received there. ( Source: Bnn.de, Julius Sandmann )
What does LIDL say about this incident?
On March 3, 2020 at 5:10 p.m. we received an answer to our request!
…Thank you for your inquiry.
The quality and safety of the products are top priority at Lidl. Through close and efficient controls throughout the entire delivery route from the producer to the dairy to the store, we ensure that our customers are only offered the best quality.
We cannot understand the Facebook user's representation. Due to the heating of the milk to 140 degrees Celsius, the homogenization at a pressure of 200 bar and the daily sterilization of the filling system at 125 degrees Celsius, it is not possible for an organism like the one seen in the photo to get into the milk for production reasons. Production and laboratory protocols from our supplier confirm the correct production and bottling process of the milk.
Please note that, as part of our Facebook etiquette, we generally delete images and links that do not refer to Lidl.de.
Kind regards,
Press Office Lidl Germany
