What kind of ideas do some people come up with...
The claim: Milka rewards everyone with a free chocolate basket to celebrate 192 years of quality service. The answer: Milka has absolutely nothing to do with this claim! It is a cheap click bait that ultimately leads to an affiliate competition.
And this is how it works: thanks to your own circle of friends, you find status reports on the Facebook homepage that claim the stated thesis. These are automatically generated status reports that were published by exactly the people who believed this competition.

After all: the number 192 is almost correct. In fact, Philippe Suchard began producing Suchard chocolate in his hometown of Serrieres near Neuchâtel in 1826 [ 1 ]. However, the term “Milka” is much younger and dates back to 1901:
The birth of Milka: On March 19 [Note: 1901], the brand name “Milka” was registered as a trademark. “Milka” is a combination of milk and cocoa. In 1901 the first Milka bar was wrapped in the famous purple paper.
Just as background information. However, let's get back to the process. How do we get the promised reward (or not)?
Bridge side
After clicking on the status message, as a user with a German IP you end up on a website that presents itself as a kind of quiz. This website claims to be Milka's homepage and uses the logo and the typical purple corporate design. However, the answers in this quiz are completely irrelevant for the rest of the course. It doesn't matter which answers you choose, a winning confirmation always appears at the end. This promise of profit forms the bridge to the actual goal.
By the way, this is a very typical process that has already been used with a large number of other decoy promises. However, before you get any further, you first have to “SHARE” the POST (Share in Facebook) for “virality purposes”. By the way, this is how the status post shown above is created on Facebook. On the other hand, in the second step you should click on a “Claim for €0” button.
This click on “Claim for €0” now triggers a redirect and you end up… surprise… in a so-called affiliate. If you take part in this competition (which at this point presents itself as an opportunity to win a Milka sample package), whoever has integrated the link into their website and forwards you to this competition will receive a commission.
This is also the reason why such previous fake competitions are constructed: the aim is to display advertising or to incorporate advertising links in a credible and effective way. The author of the fake competition simply doesn't care whether their own content is correct. By the way, the affiliate competition built into the end is not illegal. However, it has nothing to do with the previous bait.
Likewise, Milka is neither connected to the previous bait competition nor to the affiliate competition.
Anyone who enters their data there can “look forward” to tons of advertising in the form of spam emails in the near future.
