“Pay attention to the imprint,” we tell you again and again when it comes to recognizing fake competitions on Facebook. Many users do this too and are surprised who they see recently: us!

Well, almost us. Various corruptions of our name can be found in the information about newer competitions:

Whether “Dream House 2.0”, “Caravan Lover”, “Dream House 2018” or some other fake competitions: Suddenly they have Minikama or Mimikada (or other variations of our name) in the imprint. And strangely enough, with different (wrong) telephone numbers and changing streets, but all in Bochum.

If you don't read carefully, you might almost get the idea that we are behind it. According to the principle: “Mimikama actually creates these fake competitions itself in order to be able to write articles!”

And why do they do that?

Apparently, fake competition operators don't speak particularly well to us. We think it's good. Because apparently we do have an impact on readers. It is also striking that this information appears with the distorted name of our club since we reported that we were offered . We noticed that some new fake competitions didn't even get 100 fans in 24 hours. Maybe an exception, but maybe also a good sign.

Us in the imprint? We've had that before...

Now we are not really imprinted on these pages, but only corruptions of our name with a false address. But there have also been times when our address was actually in the imprint of a highly illegal site , namely “Migrant Terror”, which, however, was not the best idea of the operator at the time.

Have the site operators agreed?

That would be a guess. However, the following is more likely: on many of these sites it is the same person who creates the various pages. In addition, the sites also spread their “competitions” among themselves, as you can see here:

or here:

Apparently this is intended to help the still “weak” pages get more likes.

Quo vadis, fake competitions?

We're still undecided about whether we should view the almost mention of our name in the pages' various info tabs as a gentle provocation or as a deference. Maybe a little of both. Apparently we are a little bothered by their actions that they resort to such rather harmless tricks. Numerous readers pointed this out to us, but everyone just laughed at it.

We assume that our name will appear in one form or another in some of the fake competitions in the future. We find it rather amusing, because the best way to expose a fake competition is to use our name, albeit slightly changed, in the information. This does not discredit us, on the contrary it helps users to stay away from it.

Conclusion

Even if the names sound similar to our club's, of course we have nothing to do with these fake competitions. Not to mention the fact that we are based in Austria, not in the Ruhr area. Otherwise we classify this as a harmless provocation and a small deference. Even if the operators don't like us very much 😉
