We are currently receiving numerous inquiries about alleged competitions in which motorhomes or camper vans are to be raffled off.
Our answer is, unsurprisingly, always the same: they are fake sites that are just out to collect your data. – As with this one:

“Unfortunately, this caravan was slightly damaged during transport and can therefore no longer be rented out by us. We have therefore decided to give away this caravan on August 20th to a random person who 1. SHAREs this post and 2. comments on this post: “Done.”

The “Wohnmobil GmbH” page has existed since June 30, 2020. The company headquarters is listed as an address at 4303 St. Pantaleon in Austria. It's already ringing a bell for us because this exact address has already been used once ( HERE and HERE ). There is actually a motorhome dealer at this address, but not “Wohnmobil GmbH”.

On August 16th, the post about the alleged raffle of a caravan was published on the Facebook page. If you want to win this, you have to share the post and comment “Done”.

You will then be asked to register, for which a button is implemented on the Facebook page.

Attention, data collectors!

If you click on this button, you will be directed to an external website where you have to enter your name and email address. But first you get an important note:

Here you can read that the data entered will be passed on to third parties. This person can use the data to contact you, for example to sell subscriptions or to send other annoying spam.

Vacation time = RV winning time?

Other pages on Facebook also offer possible prizes for motorhomes or campers.

A “winner has been sought” on this page since August 4th. An option to register has not yet been implemented on the site. However, over 1,500 people have already entered the required comment “Done” and the post itself has been shared almost 1,500 times. What happens again and again is that the site operator contacts these users via message via Facebook Messenger.

Why all this? What is the purpose of these fake competitions?

It's about YOUR PERSONAL DATA and it's worth money! The actual purpose of these sites is limited to one thing: collecting data, selling magazine subscriptions and sending spam emails!

If you take part and think to yourself “Oh, I’ll just give it a try, it won’t hurt anyone” – data always brings money and these sites will continue to exist in the future. Facebook pages that trick you into believing something and make money from your personal data. Even a mere like maintains this type of page and harms you and your Facebook friends.

Note : Competitions regularly appear on Facebook and captivate Facebook users. They hope for a really big win but in the end they come away empty-handed. In these cases, only the site operator “wins”. We check competitions for their seriousness! This competition is not serious and deceives the participants. It doesn't meet Facebook's criteria and uses fake elements!

Fake Facebook pages repeatedly claim to be giving away expensive kitchen appliances, campers or cars. Finding testers for a brand is also a popular way to attract users. This scam is not new!
