a victim of “ love scamming ”.
The 53-year-old met a woman via a social network on the Internet at the end of 2022. Within a short time, the unknown woman managed to build a trusting relationship with the man. This was followed by demands for money of varying amounts until the man became suspicious and went to the police.
The West Palatinate Police Headquarters strongly advises you to be careful with internet acquaintances who ask for money! Unfortunately, so-called “romance scamming”, i.e. fraud with fake love, is not uncommon in times of online dating sites and social networks on the Internet.
