In the photo, the woman is holding a smartphone while sitting on a waiting bench. There are suitcases to her right and her baby is lying on a blanket on the floor. Underneath the re-shared image is a ( false! ) Einstein quote: “ I fear the day when technology will triumph over humanity. There will only be one generation of idiots left in the world .”
But this snapshot does the mother an injustice. And it's been that way for 6 years!
The mother at the airport
This sharepic has been shared again since the beginning of September (pixelation by us):

The story behind the photo
The woman is Molly L., the photo was taken without her permission at an airport in Colorado in 2016 and then went viral. It was taken when her baby was 2 months old.
Molly and her daughter were visiting the family and now wanted to fly back home. It wasn't as easy as they imagined, as Delta's computer shutdown left them waiting 20 hours at the airport - which was due to a power outage at the airline's headquarters in Atlanta in August 2016, causing the Computers didn't work .
There was a cancellation of 2,300 flights over a period of 3 days. Many passengers received hotel and travel vouchers while they waited for their flights to be rescheduled. Others spent the time at the airport - like Molly and her baby.
Molly held her child in her arms for hours. According to her own information, at some point she had to relax her arm and also inform her family about her current status. However, this situation was to be her downfall.
The snapshot was taken at exactly that moment. A photo that was taken without her consent and was also published with unfair comments.
The aftermath
A few months later, Molly saw the picture herself because it went viral. The unknown photographer published it without her consent to cause outrage. At the same time, she received messages calling her a bad mother.
It cost her a lot of time and energy to repeatedly fight against this image and the unfair portrayal, because this image hides the fact that she waited for hours for her flight, was hopelessly overtired, and was afraid of falling asleep and dropping the child.
“ I feel like my privacy has been violated ,” said Molly, who works part-time as a pediatric nurse. “ I had only recently started working in a delivery room and I was very afraid that my colleagues or my boss would see the photo and comments and think that I should no longer work with infants. Luckily that never happened. “
And now it's 2022. The photo is still spreading, people are outraged by it, mothers are even writing underneath that they would "never let their baby out of their hands ," even if they were informed about the story. And Molly L. can expect insults again. Thank you, you thoughtless Sharepic sharers.
