The compassion thing has worn off a bit and people are finding time again to get excited about the real problems. Since the pandemic was quickly ended politically in Germany and Austria (hereinafter DÖS for short), the great fighters for freedom, values and things can now turn back to their core issues: outrage and the power of the DÖS soul.

This is an article from the " my point of view" , written by Severin Rosenberger. This is a column and is therefore an opinion article. A column reflects the subjective view of the respective author and is intended to be constructive Stimulate discussion.

In Vienna, with the friendly support of an editor of a free daily newspaper and the FPÖ, people are now annoyed because they see large-caliber cars with Ukrainian license plates parked on the street for free (even if they have already been deleted, so the Internet doesn't forget ). It simply annoys us DOGS* when refugees don't appear appropriately demure, as we imagine. Shirts hanging in tatters, a plastic bag containing all of their belongings, maybe even a missing limb so we can come to terms with their presence.

An SUV really doesn't fit into our picture. The DÖS*sche resentment has finally gained the upper hand again. The fact that thick luxury sleds, despite their massive construction, only provide moderate protection against Russian hypersonic missiles is irrelevant. It is important: Anyone who flees should also cover themselves appropriately in rags. If the refugees are dressed in rags, then they don't fit in well with us, but that's another matter. The author of this text does not want to point out to readers that our supposed willingness to help and openness extends roughly 1mm below the surface and that our true soul lurks underneath.

Oh, you tortured DÖS soul

The next point also has to do with horsepower. In this case with horsepower that can no longer be used without further ado because these cheeky people in the very, very Middle East simply have no regard for our beloved everyday life. Fuel prices have exploded more violently than a Russian cluster bomb, and as much as we feel sorry for the victims in Ukraine, we feel a little more sorry when our passion for cars suddenly burns holes in our wallets. If this continues, we'll soon look as poor as we would like refugees to look, which we wouldn't like because... Oh, you know. The DÖS soul.

Fortunately, we have a former editor-in-chief of a major German tabloid on our side. The avenger of the unnerved, the fighter for justice and whatever suits him. Just a few months ago he was lovingly laminating fake divorce certificates in his editorial office in order to get consoling caresses from young colleagues. Today he is once again a man of the people, fighting side by side with angry petrolheads against criminal price increases at the gas station around the corner . He simply knows how to use his newfound free time for the good of humanity. the image of him out of my head that has accompanied me for a good two weeks. In my opinion, it is a contemporary document that is a reflection of the DÖS soul like no other.

The image of the DÖS soul

With a face distorted by righteous anger, his broad chest only sparsely covered with a shirt, but with maximally masculine chest hair. The glasses were certainly chosen with care, as they suggest perspective and a certain intellectuality, and are even vaguely reminiscent of Bert Brecht, and we all know that with Brecht the concerns of the little people were the center of attention. In the background, appropriately flaming red, is the reason for the little man's anger: the price board at a gas station! So he fights with his whole person for the prevailing mentality in our latitudes. Empathy only begins where one's own sinecure is in danger. In the end it's always just empathy with ourselves - but unfortunately it's no longer there.

But that ultimately doesn't matter to the Julians, Evas or anyone else at that point anyway. Reach is important and you can obviously achieve this particularly well if you use topic areas that polarize and provoke to the maximum, rumbling and screaming as loudly as possible. If you are not afraid of contradictions and shortenings in content and are cynical enough to generate attention on the back of real concerns, then the DÖS soul will gratefully take it up. Those who are disgusted by all of this are taken with you too. There is no such thing as bad range, there is only range, no matter the price. That it works can be seen in the tens of thousands of social media interactions under every post from such people. I'm also writing a text about it, so I'm also dancing to their tune.

By the way, the former editor-in-chief of the four letters is currently no longer fighting the violence at the gas station and the war in Ukraine. The new campaign is against the show with the mouse. Yes, really. I'm eagerly awaiting the result, and I'll report on his great successes here.

And when you read this, dear readers, ask yourself whether it is really the Julians and Evas whose opinions you want to pay attention to. If you want to do it, then that's your right. But that has little to do with “reason” and “common sense”, because these people don’t care about your well-being. That would require empathy and they only have that for themselves. They are just like us.
