You can feel sorry for NATO: If you are to believe the reports on relevant German sites (archived HERE and HERE and HERE ) and the Russian state media Sputnik (archived HERE ), the employees must be using laptops from 2008 on which they supposedly even have plans for attacks of Ukraine against the Crimean peninsula, the Donbass and Russia.
On closer inspection, however, it is rather crude war propaganda.

The photos and claims

These are not only shared in the articles linked above, but of course also on social networks such as Twitter:

The articles also claim that there were intelligence documents on the laptop stating that Ukraine planned to attack the Crimean Peninsula, Donbass and Russia on March 8th - with the help of NATO!

A closer look at the laptop

From the photos it can be seen that, if the photos are real, it is actually a laptop from NATO stocks.

MIMIKAMA
The details of the laptop

From the photos you can see that it is a Lenovo R500 , which was produced from 2008 to 2010 By today's standards it has very modest hardware with 2 GB of RAM as standard and Windows Vista pre-installed, but some models even had a fingerprint scanner.

The Dutchman David van Weel , NATO's Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, was rather amused by the claims that this was a current NATO laptop.

“No, we at NATO don’t work with 15-year-old laptops. Otherwise we would be just as ill-informed as you are about this Russian war against Ukraine and its innocent citizens.”

Do you also want a NATO laptop?

No problem, as long as it's okay for you to work with really old models that definitely no longer have any intelligence information on the hard drive.

For example, the company VEBEG always sells old hardware from NATO stocks (see HERE ). The linked description even states literally “ The goods offered by VEBEG are sold in the name and on behalf of NATO (agency business) ”.

There is also a link on the page to a PDF file with images of the hardware on offer. Here is one of the photos:

The photos clearly show that some monitors and laptops, for example, even have stickers with a NATO identification number.

Conclusion

The age of the laptop and the fact that hardware decommissioned from NATO is freely available for sale, even with stickers on it, indicate that it was certainly not a current NATO laptop containing intelligence information that was captured, but rather simply crude war propaganda acts to justify the attack on Ukraine once again.

It is also astonishing that apart from a Russian state media, no international, reputable press dealt with the alleged find, not even the Kremlin, because if there were actual evidence that Ukraine really wanted to attack Russia with the help of NATO, there would be a media earthquake !

But the only “evidence” is a 12 to 15 year old laptop that was decommissioned by NATO.
