The social media giant takes the new EU guidelines seriously and wants to adapt to the GDPR not only in the EU but worldwide.
As t3n reports, Facebook announced on April 17, 2018 that the new data protection regulations and the associated setting options would be rolled out within the EU this week.
Even if the social network is based on the EU guidelines, all users worldwide should be able to benefit from it later.
As part of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on May 25, 2018, Facebook is adapting its data protection technology in response to the massive criticism following the Cambridge Analytica data scandal, not only in Europe.
Facebook users should be specifically informed about the new data protection guidelines and asked to check their data protection settings and adjust them if necessary. There will also be a special information offer for teenagers over the course of the year. Adolescents should be able to find out about data protection issues directly on the platform in an age-appropriate manner. However, an exact date for this additional offer has not yet been set.
