“Call waiting” is initially only for iOS

WhatsApp now offers a new feature, the so-called “second call function”.
For now, this is only available in the iOS version. Android users will have to be patient until they can use this function. This novelty is known from earlier times as “call waiting”. With this function it is possible to answer a call while you are already in another conversation.

Holding a conversation in WhatsApp doesn't work

If you are in a telephone conversation via WhatsApp Messenger and another caller “knocks”, you can reject or accept this conversation.
What is surprising, however, is that as soon as you answer a new call, the ongoing conversation is simply ended completely.
“Brokering”, i.e. holding and switching between calls, is therefore not possible.
