And no attack with scissors either. This rumor has been spreading on social media for a few days and turned out to be unfounded.

“Knife attack in the Netto Reichenbach district of Löbau near Görlitz!!! Asylum seeker caught stealing, then the cashier was stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors, an absolute press ban has been imposed, they are afraid of riots!!!”

What's true?

In fact, the police were called to a shoplifting incident in Netto Reichenbach because a 20-year-old man wanted to steal a pair of scissors. The young man is now being investigated for theft of items of low value.

What is wrong?

The claim that the man stabbed a cashier in the neck with scissors and that there was a news blackout for fear of riots.

Here the police report in detail about the incident and the young man on Facebook:

“Maybe you’ll stick to this news blackout too?”

An accusation that we hear again and again: We are also part of the “system”. Then we ask you to consider how extensive such a ban would have to be: not only would all media not be allowed to report on it, but the victim, her relatives, the employees, all the police officers involved, their superiors and the hospital staff would also have to be obliged to remain silent become. And that in a very short time. Logistically that would be quite a feat, but from a human perspective it is clear that there is always someone who will leak information. And a few sentences on Facebook from people who “want to have heard that” are not proof , but a rumor .

“And why don’t the police say whether it’s a refugee?”

Because nationality is completely irrelevant in this crime. Many amateur statisticians would of course like to include such incidents in their collection of “crimes committed by refugees” and would therefore like to know exactly. However, it would also cause discussions if it were said that the perpetrator was a German, because then others would complain and say, “ Oh yes, it is emphasized that it is a German, but the crimes were committed by refugees.” definitely suppressed again! “. That is why the nationality of a perpetrator is not mentioned at all if there is no direct connection to an act.

Conclusion

There was an attempted theft in a net in Reichenbach that was reported to the police. Anything beyond that is baseless rumors.
