The claim
Allegedly, the warning SMS on December 8th reads all the data from the smartphone.
Our conclusion
From a purely technical point of view, the data on the smartphone cannot be read out if a short message is sent and opened. Through the so-called “silent SMS”, which has nothing to do with the warning message, investigative authorities can determine the location of criminals, but they cannot read any data either. The spread text is therefore pure scaremongering.
Not everyone needs to understand technology. That's perfectly fine too. However, it is bad when technology is not understood and therefore baseless claims are made in order to unsettle people. Just like the warning about the text message that will be sent on mobile devices on December 8th: Because this is not a “silent spy SMS” – and even if it were, it couldn’t do what it was supposed to do!
The circulating warning
The following warning is circulating via WhatsApp and on social media about the SMS on December 8th, which will be delivered via cell broadcast.

The circulating text verbatim:
"Caution!!!
Warning day on December 8th, 2022 and SMS!!! If you get a text message, don't open it!
Delete without looking! The so-called state could gain access to your cell phone!”
Below there is a link that leads to an article by Chip (see HERE ), which is about so-called “silent SMS” with which the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office can, with the consent of a court, find the location .

The warning message on December 8th
The warning day is a joint day of action in which the federal and state governments, as well as participating districts, cities and municipalities, test their warning devices in an exercise. At 11:00 a.m., the authorities and emergency services involved simultaneously activated different warning devices.
One of the warning devices is a technology that has never been used in Germany before: the so-called cell broadcast, we explain this in detail HERE . An SMS is not sent directly from a specific sender, but to all smartphones that are located within one or more specific cell phones.
Can the state read my data with this warning message?
No.
It is purely a matter of sending a text message. Nothing else. No viruses or Trojans. If it were somehow technically possible to read the data on a smartphone using a simple text message, hackers would already be exploiting this security gap to the fullest.
And what's the deal with the silent text message?
This has absolutely nothing to do with the warning message on December 8th. This is a short message that is sent to a specific cell phone but is not visible on the cell phone. In February 2018, this method of prosecuting criminals was approved .
The technology works as follows:
By court order, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office are allowed to access the position data of a cell phone from a radio operator. This works quite well using GPS, but this is not activated on every smartphone. So a “silent SMS” is sent to the cell phone about every minute and a half.
The cell phone receives this “silent SMS” and reports to the nearest cell phone tower that it has been received. The radio network operator then passes this data on to the investigating authorities, who then learn a suspect's movement history and approximate location.
But that was about it. A “silent SMS” cannot read the data from a cell phone or smartphone, but rather only determine the history of movement and an approximate location.
Let's summarize
- On December 8th at 11 a.m. a text message will be sent to all smartphones via cell broadcast
- In principle it is an SMS, only the sending technique is different
- From a purely technical point of view, the data on the smartphone cannot be read out when an SMS is sent and opened
- A “silent SMS” is something completely different purely from the name, because – surprise – it is silent , i.e. not noticeable
- This is only permitted by a court order, is used on criminals and reveals the whereabouts to the investigating authorities, but cannot read any data either
The disseminated text is pure intentional or unintentional scaremongering based on a lack of technical knowledge, although we assume that it is intentional, as the phrase “the so-called state” points to a source from the Reichsbürger milieu.
