The claim
Refugees should receive 500 euros in welcome money when they arrive in Germany. Caritas would take care of the payment. The financing comes from the tax pot.
Our conclusion
The claim is completely out of thin air. Both Caritas and the German federal government say: wrong.
We've reported on this in the past , but these videos containing false claims continue to be widely shared, especially on TikTok:

From now on, our refugee friends from Ukraine will receive 500 euros in welcome money at every Caritas office in Germany. The Bundestag approved the application in an expedited procedure. This is financed from German tax money. Your green federal government.
Always the same female voice, always the same false claims
The claim about the woman's voice comes from a video by a self-proclaimed "satirist" who doesn't even live in Germany. He has noticed similar videos with false claims several times in the past, which often follow a similar pattern: Fettbaer_man shows images from his homeland of Mallorca filmed with a shaky cell phone camera, which more or less match the content of the soundtrack. Meanwhile, a woman's voice can be heard announcing apparent facts.
What do the Interior Ministry, Bundestag and Caritas say about this?
The AFP from a spokesman for the the Interior : “The federal government does not pay welcome allowances to refugees from Ukraine.” The claim is “deliberate false information that has not been confirmed by the federal government. […] There are no corresponding plans for this in the future either.”
The church aid organization Caritas also doesn't want to know anything about the false claim. Caritas spokeswoman Anja Stoiser wrote to AFP that “Caritas does not pay or offer any welcome money”. There is no demand for this from refugees from Ukraine.
The speaker of the Bundestag, Sven Göran Mey, also denied it to Correctiv : There is neither “anything like that in the parliamentary procedure of the Bundestag” nor is there a “draft that would go to the committees”.
Conclusion: The claim about the 500 euro welcome money is fictitious. It goes back to a TikTok account that regularly spreads false information. Caritas, the Ministry of the Interior and the Bundestag also deny the false claim, and there is nothing on the subject on their websites either.
