Are non-smokers asked to pay?

There has been a topic that has been bothering a lot of consumers for a few days now. The issue is about the introduction of a so-called non-smoking tax, which is to be introduced from March 2020. This non-smoking tax should be paid by non-smokers.

This is what it’s about in detail:

For a few days now we have been receiving repeated inquiries about an article that was published on a website. Some users were surprised by this, others suspected it was fake, as you can see from this request:

What now? Real or fake?

Nothing at all, because the article was published on “die-journaille.de” and this is a satirical website. We reported on this just a few days ago when it came to this topic: “ Do bottle deposits now have to be taxed?”

The Journal…

According to its own information, “Die Journaille”, which has only existed since December 2019, “brings the most competent news in Germany”. The news ticker on the site also clearly shows us its seriousness, with messages like:

  • Badger climbs to record high
  • Donald Trump is an angry orange
  • A sack of rice fell over in China
  • There is only one God: Belafarinrod [A message that the author, as a doctor fan, has to agree with unreservedly!]

There are some articles on the homepage and you can also take a look Facebook page The way the messages and sharepics tell even the most humorless person what kind of site this is!

...is a satirical site!

In principle, Mimikama does not use satire to point out satire.
By the way, satire is not a form of fake news, but rather satire is satire and should be consumed as such. We usually deal with satire sites when the source is not clearly recognizable as satire, it is a pseudo-satire or, as here, it is a young and barely known website. It often happens that readers only get stuck on the so-called “teaser” (Facebook preview) and often don’t even check the content for its character.

It can be very easy not to fall for satire.

What questions should you ask yourself as a reader?

  • Who writes? (Imprint)
  • What is the character of the website?
  • What genre does this text belong to? (Is there an appropriate comment about the content or below the content?)

Based on this, the classic test points then follow (if they are still necessary at all):

  • Content cross-check –> use search engines
  • Image check –> reverse search

Even if it takes a little more work than just reading a headline, it's worth it in the end! Simply because you can protect your nerves, which can cause outrage to boil. Stay calm in an emergency! If you look behind the scenes, you'll discover that you often don't need to get too invested in something.
