The focus of the Federal Prosecutor General's investigation continues to be the sailing yacht “Andromeda”: several people are said to have set off on her from Rostock in September 2022 and could be involved in the explosions at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

According to research by NDR, WDR, SZ and the media partners, one of the people could have been a Ukrainian national. His name is known to the research partners.

The man is said to be in his mid-20s and comes from a city southeast of Kiev. Photos on social networks show a young man, sometimes in a military uniform with a helmet - and with noticeable tattoos. He is said to have previously served in an infantry unit of the Ukrainian military. The man himself could not be reached. A relative said on the phone that he was currently serving in the military. According to her, the man did not leave Ukraine last fall, when the explosions were being prepared. Ukrainian government authorities have not yet responded to a request.

Apparently another trace leads from the sailing yacht “Andromeda” to Ukraine: the Polish company that rented the yacht names a woman in official documents as “President” who, according to research, lives in Ukraine. According to investigative circles, the company registered as a travel agency is apparently a shell company and the president is probably a front woman who knows nothing about the company's actual operations. The travel agency does not have a website and has not recorded any significant sales for years - but in 2020 it suddenly reached 2.8 million euros, which remains unclear. On the phone, the woman confirmed that she was president of the company. She left other oral and written questions unanswered.

Neither official bodies in Poland, Sweden, Denmark or Germany wanted to comment on the new research. States such as Ukraine, the USA and Russia have always denied any responsibility for the destruction of the pipelines. A request to the Ukrainian embassy regarding the latest research initially remained unanswered. Who is ultimately behind the attacks remains unclear.

In addition to NDR, WDR and Süddeutsche Zeitung, Expressen from Sweden, frontstory from Poland and Berlingske from Denmark were also involved in this research.
