Fakeshop fraud: Users repeatedly transfer their money into the wrong hands and do not receive any goods. The police warn about fake shops in two cases.

We have been reporting on so-called fake shops for years - they are often designed so professionally that they are difficult to recognize, but if you transfer your money, you never receive the goods you ordered.

The police warn:

Fake shop

Two cases of internet fraud were reported to the police in Einbeck on Thursday. In the first case, a 29-year-old victim from Einbeck ordered a games console worth 171.00 euros online on November 10th.

Unfortunately, it was only after the money had been transferred to a Spanish account that the injured party discovered through her own research on the Internet that the company listed on the Internet did not actually exist and was a so-called “fake shop”.

Possible identity theft

In the second case, a 22-year-old man from Einbeck purchased a laptop worth 500 euros from eBay classifieds on October 29th. The injured party then had an ID photo of the alleged seller sent to them and then unfortunately transferred the purchase price to the alleged seller without any further security for the purchase.

Since the laptop has not been delivered to date, fraud can also be assumed here. The Einbeck police assume that the ID card photo sent is a total forgery or even a stolen or embezzled ID card.

How can I protect myself?

There are typical features that pretty much every fake shop has. Here are the most important points:

  • Web address: The shop's web address often does not match the product range at all. The web address of an alleged clothing shop is psychodiagnostik-duesseldorf.de , which indicates a lack of seriousness, because no reputable online clothing shop would sell products under a contradictory web address.
  • Lack of encryption: In many cases, counterfeit shops are not encrypted. You can recognize this by the warning in the address line. Tip: An encrypted website is marked with a green lock in the address bar, indicating secure transmission of your data.
  • Price: The entire range is offered at ridiculous prices.
  • Imprint and general terms and conditions are missing or incomplete.
  • Products that are already out of stock everywhere are still in stock in fraudulent shops.
