The claim
A potted plant can be seen in the current season of the jungle camp.
Our conclusion
This is correct and not the first sighting of a potted plant, nor is it the only “fake” in the jungle camp. From fiberglass plants to artificial waterfalls, we list a few things.
To put it bluntly, Australia is the country where everything wants to kill you. Poisonous animals and poisonous plants seem to be everywhere, and when you put your shoes on in the morning you should always check them first to make sure there isn't a poisonous spider sleeping in them. The jungle camp on RTL, on the other hand, is actually the safest place in all of Australia - and yes, you can even quickly move the plants there if necessary.
The potted plant in the current season
In a video filmed on TV from the current season of the jungle camp, a potted plant can apparently be seen very briefly at second 8:
Here is the corresponding image section enlarged:

This may come as a real surprise to new viewers, but long-time viewers know that the setting has been spruced up a lot.

Visible potted plant also in 2016
Do you have a box of cables that you might need again at some point? I have something similar with videos. And thanks to the requests we received about the video above, I can now show you this video from 2016 in which Dr. Bob (no, he's not a real doctor, but a paramedic, wildlife biologist and nurse) tips over a potted plant:
Pay attention to the plant at the bottom right of the picture - it may just be going to sleep when Dr. Bob runs past.
But it really is in the jungle!
In 2015, a rumor circulated that the jungle camp would actually be filmed in Tropical Islands , Europe's largest tropical holiday resort near Berlin ( we reported ). However, it was a satire that took on a life of its own and was still circulating years later.
In fact, the jungle camp is actually filmed in the jungle. So at least on the edge of the jungle, but “jungle” enough. You can at least take a closer look at the base camp on Google Maps (see HERE ), but the camp itself cannot be seen through the treetops.

This also shows that Germany and England share the camp. So if you're wondering where the recordings that show the next day's test come from: They're mostly recordings of the UK version " I'm a Celebrity - Get me out of here ", which the camp always shows two months beforehand November, take advantage.
So if you are curious about which tests are to come: Just take a look at the British version page, because the games are mostly simply used again for the German version. Also advisable for future participants for better preparation. 😉
Already known in 2008: artificial plants and fog machines
In the first few years, RTL advertised the jungle camp very grandly: “ Two weeks in the most dangerous jungle in the world: poisonous spiders, tropical heat and wild animals ” and “ The celebrities live in the real and real Australian jungle – and this is the most dangerous of them World ".
But it quickly became clear that a lot of things weren't entirely real. showed in 2008 . A man from the neighboring town was able to tell the “Frontal 21” team even more about the “most dangerous jungle in the world” where the celebrities stay:
“It was a simple farm. They built a huge camp there, with electricity and helipads. In the camp they have huge tree houses where the camera crews work. They have an incredible amount of technology there.”
And a man who helped with the construction work says:
“There’s a huge, old tree. Its roots only went over the edge of a cliff. They wanted a camera hidden there. We had to artificially extend the roots to make it look real. We extended that with fiberglass. You can’t tell the difference between the real tree and the artificial roots we built.”
A fog machine was even brought into the camp as the crew wanted the camp to look authentically foggy in the morning.
Rumor: The stage directions
The tone in the jungle camp is often very rough, and this gave rise to a rumor that there were certain stage directions to fuel conflicts, which RTL, however, denied. However, the winner of the first season, Costa Cordalis, told Domian on the phone that there were : “ You get orders. Every five minutes comes: Do this or do that. ”
A participant in the 2016 jungle camp, Helena Fürst, also spoke out loud: She complained about the cut versions of the shows, in which she is said to have been deliberately portrayed poorly in order to make her appear unsympathetic. Allegedly, participants were also given instructions on how to behave in order to sow conflict, but this has not been proven.
RTL clarified many points
In 2019, the Bild newspaper announced a “big series of revelations” about the jungle camp. RTL got ahead of the newspaper and published Bild's very extensive catalog of questions including RTL's answers (see HERE ).
Here are some of the most interesting questions and answers:
Question: Your crew Bible says that all poisonous animals (if still present after use as farmland) are collected daily. The snakes that occasionally surprise the camp residents at night are harmless snakes that are released for the cameras. Are campers aware that these snakes are non-venomous?
Answer: Poisonous animals are captured as best as possible. But we are in the middle of the rainforest. So snakes or spiders come into the camp every now and then.
Question: Why are the stream and waterfall at camp artificial?
Answer: The stream is real. The waterfall is artificial to give the celebrities the opportunity to shower.
By the way, the waterfall is switched off at night.
Question: Why are there artificial stones and rocks made of fiberglass?
Answer: We try to adapt the technology necessary for these productions to the environment as best as possible. Cameras and other necessary production technology are sometimes packed in fiberglass in the camp for optical and safety reasons.
Question: Disgusting drinks like vomit fruit juice only consist of a very small amount of vomit fruit. In reality, the main ingredients are water and milk. Why is this done?
Answer: Some drinks are diluted for drinkability.
Question: The meat is cooked and processed for so long that it tastes of nothing. The only important thing is that it is tough. Why is that important?
Answer: The meat is not specially processed so that it tastes like nothing. It is cooked until it is ready to eat.
A psychologically interesting point! Of course, before food tests, people say out loud that they are anuses or penises, but in terms of taste they are actually neutral. But the idea alone makes the candidates gag. If they didn't know, it wouldn't often be so dramatic.
Conclusion
Of course, a lot of things in the jungle camp are not real. There are potted and fiberglass plants to make the former farm more “jungle-like,” a man-made pond and waterfall, provided wood for the campfire, and farmed animals. This shouldn't really come as a surprise, as in the real jungle most candidates would probably only survive for a short time.
It is unclear whether there really are stage directions in the jungle camp and cannot be verified; there are only individual statements about this. However, some candidates clearly have emotional traumas that are not acted out, and some may act extra exaggerated - because camera time can mean the win.
What is clear, however, is that opinion will continue to divide over the format: for some, the jungle camp is welcome, mindless entertainment, for others it is simply mindless and disgusting and they demonize RTL for it.
Or as former RTL boss Helmut Thoma once said: The fish has to like the worm, not the angler.
