Crass images in the wrong context: Welcome to the area of manipulative representations!

A photo from Berlin is intended to show how much Germany has now become Islamized: people of Arab origin are probably sitting around on carpets everywhere. It doesn't say why they're sitting there (they're just sitting around). The place where they supposedly sit around is already mentioned: Berlin!

The status message for this photo reads:

German future.
This is no longer Berlin, this is Arabia!

Screnshot: Facebook page Lienpresse (the name speaks for itself)

But is this photo really a recent photo from Berlin?

Photo check: Montpellier!

The photo does not come from Berlin, but from a 4-part documentary series about the La Paillade district in Montpellier (France). This documentary series comes from 2010. Here you can see the second part of the documentary “ A La Paillade (2/4) – le bled?” be assigned. The photo shows a demonstration, also from 2010, about the construction of a mosque in La Paillade.

The four-part documentary deals with the situation in the district in the wake of waves of immigration and successive economic crises. According to the French cultural broadcaster France Culture, La Paillade on the outskirts of the city of Montpellier has developed its own culture and traditions, which are examined from various aspects in the documentary series.
