Ocean Warming – When Abraham's soup pot begins to simmer

The latest measurements of the world's oceans show alarming values; the warming of the oceans has increased dramatically in recent decades.
Ocean warming: Rising sea temperatures are also the main cause of many extreme weather events, natural disasters and have also contributed significantly to the violent forest fires in Australia.
In an urgent appeal by 14 scientists from eleven scientific faculties in various countries, they warned that the current warming of the oceans is progressing unchecked and that in the future it will encourage the environmental catastrophes that are already raging.

The reason why the planet has not yet been worse affected by the immense greenhouse gases is the enormous absorption power of the oceans. Almost 90% of global warming goes into the world's oceans. The result is ocean warming. In the last 25 years, humans have produced so much excess heat that the warming of the oceans is equivalent to the ignition of 3.6 billion atomic bomb explosions.
In total, almost 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water and produces almost as much oxygen.
Scientists have now calculated in the journal “Advances in Atmospheric Sciences” that the highest temperatures have been measured in the world's oceans in the past decade. The enormous warming mainly results in a lack of oxygen and the extinction of species.
The oxygen content in the oceans fell by 2% between 1960 and 2010, and by 2100 the content is expected to fall by a further 7%.
Although these numbers seem small at first glance, the effects of ocean warming on human and animal life on land are exorbitantly noticeable and are enough to throw entire ecosystems out of balance.
The researchers linked their research findings to a call to action.
The primary demand is that the problem be recognized and that the increase in air temperature should be kept permanently below two degrees in order to reduce the advancing global warming and prevent further environmental catastrophes.

Plans against ocean warming: At the same time as this appeal, the UN experts have drawn up a solution that stipulates that 30% of the earth's surface should be treated as a protected area, with part of it being placed under particularly strict protection in order to prevent the increasing extinction of species and to curb the warming of the planet.
Ocean warming: plans
The committee's plans include reforestation, protection of wetlands such as swamps and the restoration of biodiversity as urgent measures.
The enormous consumption of plastic should also be gradually reduced. The plan also presents a bleak outlook if experts' advice is not followed, with over a million species already at risk of extinction and could disappear in the next decade if nothing is done. These would then be the negative consequences of ocean warming.
In summary, it should be noted that global warming should be viewed as a global phenomenon from which no corner of the earth can escape.
So far, the world's oceans have served as a protective shield for humans and absorbed the majority of their environmental sins. But now it is noticeable that this last protective barrier is beginning to crumble and the oceans have reached their limits.
The restoration of other absorption options such as forests and swamps are therefore essential to curb global warming.
