The claim
“During the autumn holidays we offer a free excursion program, mainly for children of asylum seekers. But German children can also take part if there are still places available.”
Our conclusion
This AWO offer dates back to 2015. These excursions were offered in addition to the usual free autumn holiday program for children from the region. So no German child was taken away from their excursion spot!
The autumn holidays are approaching and again we are receiving inquiries (and have been doing so for 7 years now) about the newspaper advertisement with the free offer, which is “aimed primarily at children of asylum seekers”. It is about the offer for school students and young adults To be able to take advantage of a free excursion program during the autumn holidays:

“ Offers for school students and young adults
During the autumn holidays we offer a free excursion program, primarily for children of asylum seekers. But German children can also take part if there are still places available.”
This newspaper clipping is commented on with the words:
Only remaining places for German children.
This is racism against one's own people and those responsible for it belong in prison.

The fact check
If you take a closer look at the date of this offer, you will notice that it dates back to 2015 . We already HERE in and asked the AWO, which published this offer:
Statement from AWO Schleswig-Holstein on the holiday program for children
A photo of event information for school students and young adults has been published on the social network Facebook.
The AWO local association's offers listed are part of a special language support project for refugee children.
These trips are in addition to the usual free fall holiday program for local children. The aim of the project “Learn German through play and discovery” is to acquire the language and get to know the surrounding area.
Since there are more places available for the excursions than are needed for the project, it was decided to open the events in the spirit of integration and thus promote the exchange of children from different cultures.
“We regret that the description of the event was misunderstood due to unfortunate wording,” emphasized Michael Selck, managing director of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein e. V. “Our volunteers and full-time employees help where support is needed – regardless of origin, religion, gender or nationality.”

Conclusion
This offer from AWO came from 2015 . These trips were in addition to the usual free fall holiday program for local children. So no German child was taken away from their excursion spot!
