The lure of “credit” captivates many people, but expensive traps are often hidden behind it. We shed light on the hidden dangers and show you how to surf the Internet safely!

How scammers take advantage of your financial distress

One thing in advance: Anyone who promises money with little effort, without collateral and despite a negative Schufa entry is often not playing with open cards. Many of these loan offers are pure illusion and instead of financial relief, you often end up in even deeper debt. But how does this happen? There are some tricks you should know.

Rip-off 1: The bait of the credit brokerage

Does it ring a bell when you hear the term “financial restructuring”? Sounds good, right? But mostly it's just a nice word for empty promises. It's not about real financing, but about getting your finances in order and possibly distributing installments to creditors. You can do this yourself and you don’t need expensive services.

Rip-off 2: The pitfall of expensive credit cards

Another popular scam is arranging prepaid credit cards. It is often assumed that you need such a card in order to be able to check your loan application. The result? You've spent money and ended up with no real credit.

Red flags you should be aware of

  • Offers that use terms such as “Schufa-free”, “fair” or “transparent”.
  • Supposedly professional websites with fake quality seals.
  • Advance payments, fees or “special costs”.

Our conclusion: Don't let yourself be lured!

The internet is full of tempting offers that seem like a simple solution at first glance. But as is often the case here: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be critical, inform yourself and don't be blinded by full-bodied promises. This way you stay safe online and can distinguish real opportunities from empty lure offers!
