In this episode, Andre and Timpel talk about the fluid boundaries between opinion, spin, insinuation, assertion and even lies - and, above all, how quickly one actually steps out of the area of "opinion" in a conversation. Because a lot of what we label as such actually isn't in the end.
We also took a closer look at the term today in our article “ Tyumen: Fact check on a fire in Russia ,” as many people are of the opinion that a fact check is an opinion. But that is not the case. And because this term is often used in a slightly distorted way, Timpel from Radio 88.6 and I philosophized a little about it. Have fun with our 11th podcast episode (click to load content):
About opinion
We must clearly distinguish “opinion” from “belief” but also “knowledge”. An opinion is an impulse that suffices without any objective or subjective justification. I “mean” something. When it comes to faith, it's a slightly different matter. Faith is a belief that arises from subjective points of view. I can believe something because many people have already claimed this thing. And at the end there is “knowledge”, which can be adequately justified.
An insinuation is also not an opinion, just as a discriminatory statement, hatred or insults cannot be an opinion. Opinions end where the freedom of others is restricted.
