Facebook admits: Blocked people shouldn't have seen these things!
On July 2, Facebook notified over 800,000 users of a bug on Facebook and Messenger that unblocked some of the people they had blocked. The bug was active between May 29th and June 5th. Although the affected accounts could not see content that the account that had actually blocked them was only sharing with friends, blocked accounts could see content that the blocking account had made available to a larger audience. These include, for example, the privacy setting “Friends of Friends”.
Although no interrupted friendship connections were restored, according to Facebook, a maximum of one person was unblocked in 83 percent of the affected accounts. During the period of the bug, this person who was unblocked again had the opportunity to contact those who blocked them via messenger.
Facebook apologizes for this via the newsroom on Facebook, but also notes directly that users should please check their blocked lists. Every Facebook user can find this list (individually) here .
Small note: It's nice if you now check the blocked list, but in order to see whether a person has disappeared, you would have to have a comparison status from the period before the bug.
