The 67-year-old initially received a call a few days ago from an unknown woman who wanted to tell him in English that she was a “Europol” employee. But because the man knew about the scam, he simply hung up.

A day later he received another strange call - this time from an unknown man who announced an invoice that would arrive in the mail. Here, too, the 67-year-old simply ended the conversation without going into the story.

On the same day, he received confirmation of shipping of an order by email and at the same time asked the 67-year-old to confirm his personal details. Since the man was sure that he had not placed this order, he ignored the request. – Instead, after this wave of fraud, he decided to report it to the police. The investigation is ongoing.

Be careful when disclosing personal information online

It is currently unclear where the fraudsters got the 67-year-old's contact details (telephone number, postal and email address). However, the police definitely recommend: Be careful where you provide your details on the internet! Not every portal is reputable and offers sufficient protection when handling your data.
