Fraudsters keep trying in the name of Amazon. But be careful – this email does not come from the popular platform either!

In this case, the aim is to block the account as a precautionary measure because unauthorized access is suspected.

The email looks deceptively real:

The order goes to: …

The fact check

Normally on Amazon you are addressed by your first name - this is missing from the greeting.

Other than that, the email is really well done – no grammatical or spelling errors. A logical reason to quickly get the user to click on the link at the bottom of the email.

If you follow the link, you will reach this website:

And here it becomes very clear that this is a phishing attempt !

If you look at the website address, you should be suspicious - there is no secure connection and a different Amazon address that does not belong to Amazon.

What happens if I hand over my data?

If you give the fraudsters your account access data, they can shop to their heart's content or sell this data on to others.

Usually they are not yet satisfied with this data. Very often the user is asked for their credit card details in the next step.

Only then will you be redirected to the real Amazon site and the fraudsters have what they wanted: login and credit card details !

Result:

Even if the email looks deceptively real! It is a phishing attempt in which at least the login data is stolen.

Tip: ALWAYS log in to Amazon directly via your browser! NEVER follow a link from a dubious email!
