There are situations in which persistence certainly pays off: in love or the application process, for example. But when people are called up to a hundred times in just a few days, it's no longer about persistence, but about telephone spam.
040254671238 on the Clever Dialer last month . That's almost four times as many calls as the second number recorded in the same period. It is not without reason that the Hamburg number is in first place in the telephone spam check, with which the spam protection and caller ID app warns monthly about the most stubborn phone numbers. The numbers in positions 5, 6, 7 and 9 have only been recorded since June, but have already rung at least 1,300 times for those affected.

The spam phone numbers in June and the comments of those affected:
- 040254671238 (cost trap): “Several times a day for about 3 days, but it is already blocked. After ringing once it goes away. Once it's my turn without a name, they claim that they bought something on Amazon or Ebay and the small print supposedly says that the number etc. will be passed on. To cancel this lottery game, you have to pay a special price (around €75/month) for 3 months, then win 100% and then you're out for good. Whoever believes it will be saved.”
- 015210151906 (cost trap): “Lotto fraud scam – supposedly 3-month special right of termination. Hang up right away.”
- 030439729068 (cost trap): “I wanted the meter number and meter reading from my electricity meter. Didn't contact me with my name, but they addressed me by my name. ATTENTION CAUTION: do not pass on any data!!!!!!!”
- 03016637169 (competition): “10:11am! Hard to understand. Would have won and received a EUR 100.00 voucher and vouchers with a discount. Knew my cell phone number and address. Creepy! They wanted my account details to transfer the winnings.”
- 06920091655 (Other): “Number called and said that the electricity tariffs should go up 36% and to avoid that they want to keep the tariff even higher. That's why she needed the number from the electrical box. She said that they would pass the data on to the electricity provider. Of course it's not like that, but it sounded very real. So be careful.”
- 01773996325 (cost trap): “Alleged lottery contract not canceled. The other person was very aggressive and threatening when I replied that I don't have anything like that: 'We'll see about that.' It’s best not to answer it.”
- 04029996426 (cost trap): “They wanted to sell me death insurance.”
- 040607739322 (cost trap): “Terribly unfriendly and cheeky people try to sell you an energy contract. When I asked her not to contact me anymore, the lady started getting abusive!!!”
- 01768429693 (competition): “Aggressive demand as to whether you want to continue playing because you supposedly took part somewhere. Questions are designed to be answered yes.”
- 021198709935 (Other): “Totally annoying with your supplementary dental insurance. Blocked.”
