On March 21, China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735, a Boeing 737-800, crashed between the two southern cities of Kunming and Guangzhou. A video of the last seconds before the crash even exists and is probably real, but a common photo that is supposed to prove the cause of the crash, namely a severed vertical tail, is not real, but comes from an animation of another aircraft crashing.
The widespread photo
The blurry photo is shared on social networks with a description on it, such as here on Facebook :

The photo says translated:
“As can be seen in the close-up images of the crash, the vertical stabilizer (tail) of the aircraft had become detached.”

On December 19, 1997, SilkAir Flight 185, a Boeing 737-300, crashed The animation was featured in an episode of the National Geographic series Air Crash Investigation (also known as Mayday: Air Disasters). She can also be seen individually on YouTube:
At second 33 there is the frame that is shown as an alleged photo of the current crash. Here is a picture comparison:

Conclusion
Even though the China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 also crashed almost vertically according to previous findings, the photo distributed does not show the current crash, but rather an excerpt from a computer animation about a crash from 1997.
