This bizarre claim has been circulating for years: Playstation controllers are made from dog noses. And there are still people who really believe that!

Here is a current example:

“10 million dogs are killed every year to make Playstation controllers”

Gamers know the pleasant feeling when their thumb rests on the controller. The rough surface prevents your fingers from slipping during hectic gaming, so you can control with millimeter precision. A controller like this is usually stable, which is what it needs to be when you throw the thing into the corner in a rage because the “GAME OVER” flashes at you again.

Actually, a controller like this is a loyal companion, a true friend... like a dog (although you rarely throw it into the corner. You shouldn't!).
And since dogs' snouts and controllers are so similar (except that a controller just gets wet with sweat, but a dog's nose is... I dunno, just wet), it's almost obvious, isn't it?

All the dogs are coming to the sky to Sony!

There are enough countries with stray dogs! Where do they actually disappear to? Will their noses be cut off and sent to Tokyo for Sony to turn into controllers? Is this why a gamer is “miserable” after just 15 hours of continuous gaming, as the long contact of the thumb with the former dog’s nose triggers a flood of empathy (can’t possibly be due to hunger or lack of sleep!)?

It was just a joke. They're going to heaven.

As already written above, the picture has been going around since 2015. In September of that year, the website “Amazing Facts and Nature” published an article that was clearly satirical in nature, as “ Snopes ” reported.

For example, the article at the time, which is unfortunately no longer available online, talked about a Gamecube controller from Microsoft .
For all non-gamers: Microsoft makes the Xbox, the Gamecube is from Nintendo, the controller pictured is from the Sony Playstation. So three companies and consoles were mixed up to make the gamer geeks smile. Then there was an extra miscalculation (two dogs for one controller, so five dogs had to die for two controllers). Finally, there was a bit of trolling in which the players were referred to as “gaymers” (from gay = homosexual and gamer = gamer).

So this image has now been taken, re-labelled and has been spreading ever since.
We can reassure you: no dog's snout had to be cut off for a Playstation controller.

Conclusion

This claim is of course not true . The only dog snouts gamers come into contact with are those of live dogs. Who nudge you because they want to play or go for a walk. Even though you just sat down to play 8 hours ago!
