A touching scene if you know the background. Because this woman is not the biological mother of this baby!

The fact check

Bento, the photo comes from Argentina. The woman breastfeeding the baby is a police officer and was assigned to guard duty at a children's hospital in Buenos Aires that day. Her name is Celeste Ayala and she is the mother of two children. However, the baby in the photo is not her own, but was rescued by the authorities from inadequate family circumstances along with five other children and brought to that hospital.

The youngest of the six children was crying bitterly and Ayala assumed she was crying out of hunger. Without further ado, the woman decided to breastfeed the baby herself and asked the staff. This warned Ayala about “the smell and dirt” of the child, but she didn’t care. She sat on a chair and gave him her breast.

“It didn’t want to let go,” says Ayala. “It stopped crying – and also petted me.” The baby was not only hungry, but also needed attention, Ayala said.

Ayala's colleague Marcos Heredia made a post on Facebook, where the story, including the photo, went viral.

The minister responsible for the province of Buenos Aires also expressed his gratitude and met Celeste Ayala personally to thank her.

On Twitter he praised the police officer's actions and wrote "she is an example of the kind of police work that makes him proud."
