The perpetrators offered their services to a container service in Lich and a waste disposal company in Giessen. In both cases, the owners rejected the aggressive offers and informed the police.
Police warn of aggressive tar crews
The police warn urgently against doing business with these craftsmen. The Fraud Commissioner's investigators do not rule out that the aggressive tradesmen will also turn to homeowners and offer them their services.
Those responsible for the property are literally being duped by the crews of craftsmen. Areas and driveways, yards and paths are to be repaired or asphalted at a bargain price. Potential customers are often pressured, coerced or even threatened into concluding a contract.
Very often the men use the trick that the repairs can be offered particularly cheaply because there is still material left over from a neighboring construction site. All in all, this sounds like a tempting offer, which unfortunately one or two people succumb to. However, it then turns out that the work is carried out very unprofessionally and extremely poorly.
Poor workmanship and/or massively overpriced
In the past, some “bargain offers” from such door-to-door sales have proven to be a real deception. Very often the whole thing turns out to be a blatant fraud or usury. Another typical feature of the services offered is the fact that the craftsmen insist on paying in cash on site.
Improper work often leads to follow-up costs. Claims for recourse come to nothing because these companies generally do not have a permanent place of business. In addition, the work is mostly illegal work, although it should be remembered that in this case the client is also liable to prosecution.
The police advise:
It is important that if the tar crews appear, the local police are notified immediately.
Conclusion
The Gießen police are warning businesses and private households about British tar crews who offer their services at their front door without being asked. In this case, the police should also be contacted immediately.
