The claim
The “emotional choreography” of DJ Ötzi’s “Burger Dance” is said to have helped Harry and Meghan through difficult times.
Our conclusion
Sounds funny, but it's not true: There's nothing about it in the book; the rumor arose from a running joke on social media.
We are sure that the first deepfake hobbyists are already taking a video snippet from the “Burger Dance” and putting Prince Harry’s face on DJ Ötzi’s, because the tabloid report from various media sounds too funny: The “emotional choreography” of the “Burger Dance” is said to have helped Harry and Meghan through difficult times.
Unfortunately, we have to get into the dance in an unsportsmanlike way: there is nothing true about the story!
The claim
Several media outlets reported on Prince Harry and the “Burger Dance”:

The articles unanimously state:
"No joke! Here is an excerpt from the book: “My brother was so cruel to us, we felt hopeless. But the 'Burger Dance' gave us the strength to keep going and not give up.” How Gerry Friedle [DJ Ötzi's real name] managed that? “The emotional choreography in particular motivated us once again to stand up and stand up to the British royal family,” said Harry.”

Really? We'll read it!
___STEADY_PAYWALL___
Harry and Meghan doing the “Burger Dance” – that sounds so crazy that we wanted to know exactly and looked it up ourselves in the digital version of his book “Spare”, which fortunately you can search (we wanted the whole book after all). do not read).
We'll make it short: nothing! Not a single word about DJ Ötzi, Gerry Friedle, the “Burger Dance” or any choreography that Harry and Meghan danced to motivate themselves against the attacks of the royal family and Harry’s brother William!
A specific dance is only mentioned in one place: Chapter 87

“We drove calmly and sensibly to the hospital, where our bodyguards took care of us once again. This time they brought burgers and fries from In-N-Out. And fajitas from a local Mexican restaurant for Meg. We ate and ate and then did the baby-mama dance in the hospital room.”
Doesn’t really sound like DJ Ötzi’s “Burger Dance”. But where does the claim come from? The reporting media apparently didn't read the book to see whether the claim was actually true, but there is a certain basis: a running joke on the Internet!
“Prince Harry reveals…” – The running gag
The alleged DJ Ötzi revelation is not the first revelation to circulate on the Internet, just the first in German, because there are many more claims in this direction that are not even in the book:
Supposedly, Harry listens to the music of the singer Shenseea in lonely times, whose lyrics helped him to persevere. Harry also seems to be a “Game of Thrones” fan:
The character of Daenerys Targaryen is said to have motivated him: “ She is so inspiring to me. Like Daenerys, I will take back what was stolen from me. I'll take it. “
The above and other tweets of this type are parody messages based on previous real messages that begin with "Prince Harry revealed."
For example Prince Harry revealed that his brother William and Kate Middleton suggested he wear a Nazi uniform as a costume in 2005, and he also revealed that his brother punched him to the ground during an argument in 2019.
“Prince Harry reveals” parodies then circulated on social media.
A previously unknown source took over this running gag and converted it into our realm: Prince Harry is said to have revealed that he likes DJ Ötzi and the “Burger Dance”. And some media outlets apparently took the claim at face value.
UPDATE January 18, 12:10 p.m
The alleged author of the German-language version of the running gag is “galerie.arschgeweih”, on whose Instagram page this posting appeared on January 10th:
“ Prince Harry revealed in his new book that DJ Ötzi's music helped him and his wife Meghan out of dark times ,” followed by an alleged quote from the book. In a recent post on Instagram they make it clear:
“This information was made up 🚨

This might shock you now, but Prince Harry didn't *really* LISTEN TO DJ ÖTZI'S BURGER DANCE to recharge his batteries. He doesn't write about it in his book either. This anecdote and the corresponding passage are 100% our imagination – even if the Austrian media are now vehemently claiming the opposite, as if they had read it with their own eyes in Harry’s book.”
Conclusion
As funny as the report is, which has already been deleted or given a question mark by some media, it unfortunately also shows that clicks often count for more than just a few minutes of research to see whether the claim is actually true. We hope this will be a lesson to some media professionals: Don't just accept any claim without checking it, no matter how sensational or funny it may be!
Because in this case it was just a funny claim that is harmless. But next time it could be an allegation that is directed against innocent people and causes real damage - and then these media are responsible!
Also interesting: Otherwise, the comparison with the US role model Jake Angeli is apt and entirely intentional.
