A post on Facebook claimed that Putin Pub (also known as Putin Bar) would be changing its name. The new name will be “Zelenskiy Pub”. The post also included a photo that was supposed to show that the signage on the building had already been replaced.

The Facebook post can no longer be found, but has been archived ( HERE ): “The Putin Pub in Jerusalem has changed its name…..”

On February 24, the day Russia began its war of aggression in Ukraine, Putin Pub operators removed the Russian president's name from the bar's exterior sign, NPR .

“We believe we did the right thing. We don't want to have anything to do with politics. This is supposed to be a happy place.”

Leon Teterin, co-owner of Putin Pub

In a report by the Jerusalem Post and on the NPR you can also see what the sign outside the restaurant currently looks like. You can also find a current comparison on Twitter.

New name not yet known

Now the bar is to be renamed. However, the future name has not yet been determined. On the Facebook page of the (previous) Putin Pub, the profile and cover photo have been changed to read “New Brand Name is Loading”

Conclusion

The Putin Pub in Jerusalem, which has been around for 15 years, is actually currently undergoing a name change.

However, it is not true that the pub is or was renamed “Zelenskiy Pub”. This information and the accompanying picture are fake.
