A video of a huge rat is circulating on TikTok, allegedly found in the sewers of Mexico City, which BILD also reported on.
All kinds of things are hidden in sewers, as long as people's imagination allows it: giant crocodiles, evil clowns or mutated turtles. Speaking of turtles, was Master Splinter , foster father of the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, discovered in the sewers of Mexico City? The video with a rat on TikTok at least gives the impression:

According to the logo, the video comes from BILD, which reports on the discovery of the apparently huge rat.
The origin of the video
BILD actually reported on it, so the logo in the TikTok video was not added later. However, the video was shortened and no longer includes the explanation. Here is the link to the BILD video .
Unfortunately, the page only contains the date of the video very briefly below: October 17, 2021, but an old topic was simply revisited because it was already spread in September 2020.

The video has been shortened!
Following the widespread video, a lot more is explained in the original
“However, the structure never lived. The workers fell for a Halloween costume. A woman has now come forward. She says she lost the costume in a storm years ago. A sewer worker cleaned the monster rat. Some passers-by said that even then the animal still gave them a real scare.”
In September 2020 we also reported on the apparently huge rat with the same conclusion: It's just a costume.
Conclusion
Someone on TikTok probably wanted to get a few more views for their own videos and deliberately shortened a video to include the part that explains that the rat is not real. You can do it. But then you spread misleading news and play with your reputation.
