As already reported , it is possible to read and write your WhatsApp messages without the chat partner directly noticing. We have now summarized how this works in this guide.
Step 1: Configure WhatsApp privacy settings
- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Tap “Settings” (bottom right on iOS, top right on Android).
- Select “Account” and then go to “Privacy” .
Now you can set a number of options related to your privacy:
- Last Online: Choose who can see when you were last online. Options are Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody.
- Profile photo: Decide who can see your profile photo. The options are the same as Last Online.
- Status: Control who can see your WhatsApp status.
- Read receipts: Disable this option if you don't want others to see when you've read their messages. Note that this also means that you will no longer be able to see when your messages have been read.
Step 2: Use airplane mode for secret reading and writing
- Activate airplane mode on your smartphone. This breaks the connection to the Internet.
- Open WhatsApp and read or write your messages. Since your smartphone does not have an internet connection, your activities will not be transmitted and it will appear as if you are offline.
- Turn Airplane Mode back off when you're done. Your messages are now being sent and it looks like you just went online.
Step 3: Read Secretly on iOS and Android
On an iPhone:
- When a message arrives, press "Notification" on the lock screen to read it.
- For longer messages, press and hold the message to view the entire content.
- The blue ticks indicating that you have read the message will not fire.
On an Android device:
- When a message arrives, pull down the notification bar and tap "App Notification .
- A preview of the message is displayed. Tap the arrow in the top right to read the entire message.
- The blue ticks are not triggered here either.
Congratulations! You have now learned how to secretly read and write your WhatsApp messages without disabling read receipts in the privacy settings. Enjoy your newfound privacy and control over your communications.
