A Berlin telephone number (03016637169) has now gained a place in the ranks of the record holders in the “Telephone Spam” category: With 13,277 calls, spammers made an annual high in August, making up 33.5 percent of the top 10. Calls of the month. Clever Dialer, the spam protection and caller ID app, is once again publishing the most annoying phone numbers to block this month. Particularly striking: Despite the much-discussed gas levy, the spam callers primarily used the competition scam.
The spam phone numbers in August and the comments of those affected:
- 03016637169 (competition):
“Travel voucher, shopping voucher offered, you have the correct address and mobile phone number, then asked for date of birth – fraud!”
- 06966102716 (Other):
“Called. Supposedly from an electricity and advisory authority. Due to high electricity prices, we currently offer cheaper tariffs everywhere. I wanted to know how much I pay monthly, how many people live in the apartment, and whether gas is used. I told him three times that I was currently satisfied with the conditions and provider, but he kept talking. Then I hung up!”
- 015210459096 (cost trap):
“Caller with a foreign accent says that I took part in a competition and didn't unsubscribe, so it will now be chargeable and I would have to pay x amount. Just attempted fraud, hung up straight away.”
- 015215173526 (cost trap):
“Lotto win. Be careful, you only want to access your account details.”
- +31686390365 (competition):
“Warning! Pawn catcher! Supposedly an extension of a 6aus49 subscription. Costs €89 to be paid. Such a contract was never concluded on my part.”
- 04029996027 (Other):
“We want to sell funeral insurance and work with completely baseless reasons.”
- 015218528018 (cost trap):
“Calls several times an hour… supposedly to announce a win”
- 015783349220 (competition):
“Apparently debt collection and would like to have my bank details so that he can reduce a subscription from 12 to 3 months, which should cost €73.90 each.”
- 06987001746 (cost trap):
“Energy center should set the tariffs on behalf of the electricity supplier before the price increase. The name of my provider could not be given, my address was given as the address of my former employer (…). Presumably an electricity supply contract should be concluded as part of the conversation after the contract and meter number have been stated. This happened to a neighbor once... so: block it."
- 021198709935 (cost trap):
“It's really annoying with your additional dental insurance. Blocked.”
