Didn't get credit back from electricity provider

Electricity bills and customer data are intended to prove that electricity and gas suppliers have systematically kept their customers' credit in their own cash registers for years. Such credits arise when you use less electricity or gas in a year than you paid for in advance.

The provider actually has to pay out the money again. But our research shows that this is often not the case - especially with cheap electricity providers such as “Immergrün” or “Plusstrom”. This film article is about, among other things, two cases in connection with the two providers. During further research, cases emerged throughout Germany in which customers were not paid out credits or promised bonuses.

Insight into the systematic rip-off

According to insiders, there is a connection between the various electricity providers: GfM – the company for measurement services in Cologne. This is a service company that provides customer support for energy providers. A former GfM employee talks about his experience there and today makes serious allegations against his former employer. And other former employees also report similar things about GfM.

Comprehensive system of rip-offs?

When looking through the research documents, Leonora Holling from the Association of Energy Consumers notices something that seems to support the thesis: Apparently the providers even want high credit amounts.

The following applies to consumers: be attentive, ask persistently and don't allow yourself to be ripped off.
Brazen providers and dubious business practices often make it difficult for customers to keep track of things and they try their scam again and again.

A ray of hope: Since the beginning of the year, the Cologne public prosecutor's office has been investigating nine defendants on suspicion of fraud.
