The contribution service of ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio, formerly GEZ, regularly receives data from the residents' registration offices in order to collect the broadcasting fee. On this basis, from January 10th until probably the end of June 2023, he will write to those people who cannot be assigned to an apartment that has already been registered for the broadcasting fee. The Brandenburg Consumer Center (VZB) urgently advises anyone who receives such a letter to respond. For individual inquiries there is the possibility of personal advice .
Contribution service writes to people who have not yet registered
Adults who the contribution service cannot assign to an apartment that has already been registered for the broadcasting contribution will receive mail from January 2023. The contribution service thus clarifies any obligation to register for the broadcasting contribution. Even if a broadcasting fee has already been paid for the apartment by a roommate, the letter should definitely be answered, says Silke Vollbrecht from the Brandenburg Consumer Center.
Ignoring leads to automatic login
If the person you wrote to does not respond and ignores the following reminder letter, the broadcasting contribution service will automatically register you. If the resulting contribution is not paid, this will trigger reminders and can ultimately even result in a request for enforcement or even enforcement.
“In principle, the principle always applies: one apartment – one contribution. If the person addressed informs us, stating the corresponding contribution number, that another person living in the household is already paying the broadcasting fee, the contribution service deletes all data about the person and no registration for the broadcasting fee takes place.
