Crizpy: Let's put social media where it's most fun.

Many drivers are annoyed by it, and it has already become fatal for many pedestrians and cyclists. We are talking about the “blind spot”. An average of 28 cyclists die every year in Germany because they were in the blind spot of trucks. A 14-year-old student from the USA has now made a simple but effective invention that can save lives.

Alaina Gassler presented her method in a student competition and won first prize. She entered her project into the Broadcom Masters competition for middle school students.

Their research approach has the somewhat unwieldy title “Improving Automobile Safety by Removing Blind Spots”. But the idea is simple. The student has even built a working prototype of her system. All she needed was a webcam, a projector and some reflective material - customized with shapes from the 3D printer. With their invention, the blind spot in the car is easily but effectively eliminated.

This is CRIZPY!
