Despite a slight decrease of around seven percent, the highest number of cases of politically motivated crime are right-wing motivated crimes with almost 22,000. 41 percent of the total victims of violent crimes recorded were injured by right-wing perpetrators in 2021. A total of 55,000 crimes by corona deniers as well as right-wing extremists, left-wing extremists, Islamists and other fanatics represent a sad and alarming peak in 2021.

This emerges from statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), which Nancy Faeser, Federal Minister of the Interior and Homeland of Germany, presented together with Holger Münch, head of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) on May 10th. In this annual report on politically motivated crime in 2021, the numbers speak for themselves.

We have described the dangers of right-wing extremism and its communication strategies in more detail in our book “Attack on Democracy” ( HERE ).

Danger of right-wing extremism

Faeser warns that “right-wing extremism remains the greatest extremist threat to our basic democratic order and the greatest extremist danger to people in our country.”

Faeser now wants to counteract right-wing extremism with an action plan. At least the scene that appears to be the most dangerous should be contained.
