A user told us about a Christmas competition in Rossmann's name that was being distributed on WhatsApp. already reported on it in 2021 , and it will probably be repeated “due to its great success”.

But supposed competitions aren't just coming in via WhatsApp. When you search on Facebook, you get a large number of supposed Rossmann pages and also associated fake winning opportunities.

An original competition from the company...

  • usually comes via email or from the app.
  • You can usually also find it on the official website .
  • is promoted via the company's own Instagram account.
  • is promoted via the official Facebook account
  • always has transparent conditions of participation and detailed data protection declarations

How do I recognize fake competitions?

You can recognize ominous competitions when you read, for example: “Press Like and you’ll be entered into our lottery pot!” and “Whoever shares the post has a double chance!” and then “The page -name-of-the-page- needs to be liked!

Another characteristic is when the following content is NOT AVAILABLE:

MIMIKAMAOwner of the site / contact person
MIMIKAMA Imprint
MIMIKAMA Contact option
MIMIKAMA Conditions of participation
MIMIKAMA Exemption from Facebook

Reputable companies deal with the topic of competitions on Facebook and present them correctly. Among other things, reputable organizers ensure that an imprint, a contact and conditions of participation are available, which are also necessary from a legal perspective.

What can you do against fake competitions?

MIMIKAMAReport the page to Facebook Inform
MIMIKAMA friends about the fake.
MIMIKAMA If possible, post directly on the page that it is fake. (Here you have to expect that the operator will then block you)

Word simply has to get out that it is fake. This is the only way to stop the flood of fake competitions.
