The current spiral of violence between Russia and Ukraine not only has political and human consequences, but also raises questions about what happens to consumers' money.
- Do you have to worry about your investments?
- What happens to Russia ETF/Funds?
- And is the money safe if there is a Russian company behind the European subsidiary?
The European Union has had sanctions against Russia since 2014, which also affect the financial sector. But since February 2022, many questions have become more explosive, such as the security of overnight and fixed-term deposits at European subsidiaries of Russian banks. This is because last year the EU imposed various new sanctions against Russia, which in turn were responded to by Russia.
The legal situation is complex, but it is worth knowing about it and finding out about possible effects on Russia ETFs/funds.
Although no one can seriously assess the further development of the war and its economic effects, an article from the NRW Consumer Center offers answers to frequently asked questions about investing in times of sanctions against Russia.
You can find the article and all questions and answers HERE.
Baerbock end of April 2023: Russia sanctions remain!
Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) has made it clear that Germany is sticking to the economic sanctions against Russia. The sanctions will not be ended as long as the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine does not end, Baerbock said in the Bundestag. The recent vote in the UN Human Rights Council against unilateral sanctions does not change this.
