At the moment, countless consumers are receiving text messages. The sender: “SATURN”.

In an SMS that supposedly comes from “Saturn”, the user, who is addressed directly by their first name, is led to believe that they have received a package. The user should now “pick up” this themselves by tapping on a link. This is the following SMS:

image

The SMS as text:

Hello (first name),
you have (1) package from Saturn!
Ref: UPS-7467W90Q
Last chance to pick it up >> https://goo.gl~~~~~~~~

As soon as the consumer taps on the link, a website opens and you can read that Saturn supposedly has a total of 200 Samsung S9s worth EUR 875 to give away and the user only has to pay EUR 3!

image

Danger! So that the user can now (supposedly) get a Samsung Galaxy S9 for 3 EUR, he has to provide his contact details and credit card information!

The user now has to answer a few questions and at the end “confirm the order”.

image

The user then lands on a competition form!

image

First, the user must enter their contact details such as name, address, telephone number and email. On the next page his credit card information:

At the end it is almost unreadable, as it is light gray writing on a white background, the following note!

image

“All new customers take part in the competition for the promotional product displayed. If you are the lucky winner, you will be notified directly by email. This special offer includes a 3-day trial subscription for unlimited online entertainment. After the trial subscription expires, the membership fee (68 EUR) will be automatically charged to your credit card. If you are dissatisfied with our service for any reason, you can cancel your account within 3 days. If the service is not canceled, the term is automatically extended by one month. This promotion runs until December 31, 2018”

Result

This is a text message that definitely does NOT come from SATURN! This was sent by DATA TRADERS whose goal is to collect USER DATA and force a subscription on the user that promises unlimited “online entertainment”. It is impossible to say at this point where the phone numbers for sending the SMS came from!

Saturn itself has already commented on its Facebook page that it is not a text message from them:

image

The subscription has its price!

If the user falls into the trap, EUR 68 per month will automatically be debited from their credit card!

From the looks of it, there is no smartphone to be had here for EUR 3. If anything, this is hidden behind a competition. The aim of this scam is to get users to unintentionally take out a subscription that costs EUR 68 per month!

STAY AWAY FROM SUCH DUBIOUS PROMISES!
