But be careful! Caution should also be exercised here, as fraudsters also use the love business for their own benefit.
On Monday (November 28th) a 36-year-old filed a police report. He had written to a woman on Instagram. The two became closer and a conversation developed in which intimate pictures were also sent. As the contact intensified, the flirts used Telegram. The woman suddenly demanded money. If the injured party did not comply with the demand, she wanted to send the photos to his family and friends. The injured party then decided to report the matter to the police.
Although embarrassment and fear play an inhibiting role in such scams, the police point out that those affected should not pay any money to the fraudsters and should report it to the police immediately.
The so-called “ sextortion ” is a still current scam in which Internet users are blackmailed with nude pictures or videos.
The police advise to be careful when sending pictures and videos or during live chats and give the following tips:
- Always be aware that you may be filmed during a video chat. The content may potentially be used to blackmail you.
- Under no circumstances should you pay.
- If you are affected, report the scammer(s).
