Anyone who goes bargain hunting on social networks should always be vigilant. Because the danger lurks here too: “Money gone and no goods”.
Many people love online shopping or enjoy using the marketplace functions of various social platforms. Great bargains can often be found here. Unfortunately, there aren't always honest people on the Internet, so it's not uncommon for users to transfer money but never receive any goods.
As the West Palatinate police report, a 24-year-old fell for a suspected fraudster on Monday, November 25, 2019. The suspect offered a smartphone for sale via a social network on the Internet.

The 24-year-old transferred 650 euros to the alleged saleswoman. The bargain turned out to be a fraud shortly afterwards. After the 24-year-old transferred the purchase amount, the alleged seller deleted her social media profile and was no longer reachable by the buyer.
Now the police are investigating and warn:
- Be careful with unbeatably cheap offers!
- If the offer is too cheap to be true: stay away!
- Compare what a bargain can cost. Check seller reviews or search online for reviews from other buyers.
- Use an escrow service when purchasing expensive items. This service guarantees that the seller only receives his money when the goods have actually arrived and are in perfect condition. You should definitely avoid unknown trustees suggested by the seller.
