The letter below is still not an official letter, but the rbb today:

In view of the increasing number of people infected with the novel coronavirus, schools and daycare centers in Berlin will gradually cease operations from next week. Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) announced this on Friday.

The closure is scheduled to begin on Monday with the high school centers. Further details will be announced later this afternoon.

On Thursday, Berlin's Education Senator Sandra Scheeres (also SPD) ruled out school closures. She had referred to recommendations that had been made at the meeting of the state education ministers on the same day. Only excursions and school trips were then banned in Berlin .”

Dear School Management,

I have just come from the general meeting of the Sentas President and the Berlin School Board due to the coronavirus and the increased cases.

The Senate administration has decided to close all secondary schools and high schools as well as primary schools, special schools and all educational institutions in the state of Berlin from March 17th, 2020 to May 30th, 2020, including all OSZ and technical and training schools as well as daycare centers.

Further information will be announced over time and all parents and students will be informed by their schools themselves. This email is strictly confidential and may only be sent to school district employees. Initially only the school management was informed. It is not advisable to tell students about this as the second meeting is still pending.
